In their exclusive biannual rankings of the Top 100 Courses in the U.S, both Golfweek and Golf Magazine have elevated the ranking of Whispering Pines Golf Club among the Top 100 Courses in America.
Whispering Pines, located outside Trinity, Texas is the highest ranked course of all Texas courses in both publications. In Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses in America rankings, Whispering Pines ranked 32nd, moving up from being ranked 45th in the 2009 rankings. The two other Texas courses ranked in the Top 100 were Dallas National Golf Club at # 34 and Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio at #80.
In Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Courses in America rankings, Whispering Pines ranked 80th, jumping up ten positions from the 90th ranked course in 2009. Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth ranked #81 was the only other Texas course to be ranked in the Top 100.
The biannual rankings are generated from course evaluations from over 100 distinguished panelists. A minimum of ten evaluations are required to qualify for selection. Each panelist considers factors such as design, rhythm, creativity, setting and conditioning.
Since opening in 2000, Whispering Pines has received national honors by Golf Digest including Third Best New Private Course in America (2000), Second Best in Texas (2001 to 2007) and ranked #11 in America’s 50 Greatest Golf Retreats (2006-2007). Combined with being ranked as the #1 Golf Course in Texas since 2006 by the Dallas Morning News statewide panelists, Whispering Pines has well earned being recognized as one of the Top 100 Courses in the U.S.
“It is an overwhelming honor to be named as one of the Top 100 Courses in America by two major golf publications. It is a reflection of a passionate vision, dedicated staff and loyal membership.
