THE FIRST TEE
"To impact the lives of young
people around the world by creating affordable and accessible golf facilities
to primarily serve those who have not previously had exposure to the game and
its positive values."
- The program consists of an introduction to and
instruction on putting, chipping, full-swing, on-course play, rules and
etiquette from PGA professionals and volunteers.
- We serve 1,000 Houston Independent School District (HISD)
fifth-graders each school year that come to Camp Olympia for a four-day,
three-night outdoors education program.
- Whispering Pines Golf Club® has a dedicated practice
area and a three-hole beginner’s course for The First Tee program.
- There are approximately 40 local chapters across the
country with 90 more slated to open.
- The First Tee program in Houston at Law Park will
provide on-going course and practice venues as well as instruction for
these children when they return home to Houston.
- The PGA Tour, PGA of America, LPGA, USGA and Augusta
National Golf Club formed this national initiative for The First Tee.
