Golf Workshops at Whispering Pines Golf Club®

You arrive in the evening and check into your cottage where your favorite beverage will be on ice waiting for you. After getting situated the chef will greet you at your cottage and tell you about the dinner that he is preparing. After a superb evening of fine dining you will retire to your rooms for a good night sleep.

Morning has arrived and breakfast is being served at the golf house. After a hearty breakfast you and your guests will make your way to the driving range where balls will be laid out on clean cut grass ready to be struck crisply against the towering pine backdrop. Chris Rowe, the Head Golf Professional will be awaiting your arrival to speak to you about the day’s activities and what we want to accomplish. The workshop will be goal oriented to suit each players needs. The workshop will go as follows, but can be structured specifically to each group.

The golf swing of each player will be filmed and critiqued and saved on computer to analyze in the future. After we know what we need to work on it is time to start making the changes needed to become a better player. All changes in the golf swing are for permanent improvement not a quick fix or band aid to get through the round. After spending a few hours on the range each person should have a better understanding of what they need to work on in their golf swing.

The short game will be conducted with every aspect of the game being covered. We will start by hitting chip shots followed by pitching and lob shots. We then will work on the bunker shots. When working in the bunkers we will cover every type of shot that you would ever find yourself playing. After a lot of hard work it is time for lunch back at the golf house.

After another great meal it is time to head to the putting green. Putting should be one of the easiest tasks to master, but we seldom putt as well as we should. In the putting workshop we will cover short putts and why we miss them. Next we work on long putts with techniques and proven methods on two putting from longer distances. And we finish with how to read greens like a tour player.

Now we are ready to take our game to the course. On the golf course we will talk about course strategy and the mental approach to playing great golf. This part of the workshop will be the most beneficial for many of you. We will play nine holes of golf and each student will play every hole. On each tee box a strategy will be discussed before any shot is played. After each hole is completed we will discuss any improvements needed to lower our score.

Now we are walking off the eighteenth green and the aroma of steaks grilling from your cottage permeates the air as Chef David is preparing your dinner. Your foursome has had a wonderful day of instruction, playing golf, and great food. As the sun sets at Whispering Pines Golf Club® you can look out at the golf course with a glass of wine and a great cigar and realize that not many people have had the type of day that you experienced. To schedule golf workshops call the golf shop at Whispering Pines Golf Club®.

Sincerely,

Chris Rowe

Every Game of Golf Deserves a Great Platform
A USGA Course Rating is the USGA's evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions for the purpose of providing a uniform basis on which to issue USGA Handicap Indexes. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer.  [ + ]
