The program consists of an introduction to and instruction on putting, chipping, full-swing, on-course play, rules and etiquette from PGA professionals and volunteers.

Whispering Pines Golf Club® has a dedicated practice area and a three-hole beginner’s course for The First Tee program.

There are approximately 40 local chapters across the country with 90 more slated to open.

The PGA Tour, PGA of America, LPGA, USGA and Augusta National Golf Club formed this national initiative for The First Tee.

Every Game of Golf Deserves a Great Platform
A USGA Course Rating is the USGA's evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions for the purpose of providing a uniform basis on which to issue USGA Handicap Indexes. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer. [ + ]
