General Manager's Report
Welcome Back WP Members!!
I look forward to a great 2010 at Whispering Pines. I want to thank you for an incredible 2009. We cannot do it without our members and we truly appreciate your support. We will begin our 2010 Spring Season on March 24th and conclude the season on July 2nd. Our Fall Season will open on September 8th and we will close on December 19th.
We will host the Big 12 Men's Golf Championship Tournament from April 22nd through April 25th. You are invited to attend to watch your favorite Big 12 College compete on your home course. We will close the course on april 17th to setup and prepare and remain closed until the Tournament is complete. We will not take any Cottage Reservations from April 16th through April 27th.
 Here are our scheduled Member Tournament dates for 2010:
• Highlander Member-Guest is June 4th through 6th
• North-South Tournament is June 25th through 27th
• President's Cup (Club Championship) is September 11th through 12th
• Fall Member-Guest is September 24th through 26th
• Member-Member Tournament is October 16th through 17th
Please mark your calendars now and plan on participating. The WP staff delivers a World Class Experience on each one of these Special Events. You will not be disappointed!
Our website gives you a color-coded calendar on the availability of the Cottages at The Village. If your desired date is taken on our website's calendar, please contact Mary Enyart at 936-594-4698 or menyart@whisperingpinesgolfclub.com and put yourself on our Waiting List. Adding your name to the list helps us try to accommodate your requested date in the event we have a cancelation. Remember, once the current season opens, we then open up the following season's calendar for member bookings.

From The Pro Shop
The spring season begins March 24th and will be here before you know it. The Big 12 Championship returns to Whispering Pines in April. This tournament gives you the chance to walk alongside some of the best collegiate players in the country. Texas A&M is the defending National Champions along with Oklahoma State having a perfect 2-0 record for Big 12 Championships held at Whispering Pines.
The Member Tournament Schedule is posted on the website and I highly encourage all of you to set your schedules around these fun events. The Highlander Member-Guest is set for the first weekend in June and always sells out. All tournament invitations are sent through email and usually go out a month before the event. Our Fall Member-Guest was created because of the demand of the Highlander and i the exact tournament just a different date. The first 16 teams drawn will be in the Highlander and the next 16 teams will be in the Fall Tournament. We then form a waiting list for any member who did not make it in either event.
The North/South Matches might have been the most exciting member event we have ever had at Whispering Pines. The tournament concept is basically the North part of the state against the South part. We draw a line through the middle of the state and where you live determines which side you will be playing for. This tournament has each team wearing matching uniforms for the weekend and good clean jabbing of the opponent is encouraged. The North was victorious last year and the South Team had to watch as the North Team had their champagne toast.
The lesson tee was busy all last year and as you all know I love to teach. We have our new indoor teaching facility at the opposite end of the range. If the weather is cold or rain is coming down it will not matter because you will be indoors. This teaching facility has the latest software technology by V1 and all swings can be saved or recorded as many times as needed. If you haven't experienced a lesson with this technology give me a call and I can show you how it works.
The golf shop will be stocked with the latest fashions from Fairway & Greene, Peter Millar, and Adidas. If you do not see what you are looking for or we don't have your size, please let us know. We will special order the item and ship it directly to your business or home. If you have a corporate membership or want to do something special for your group; we can put your company logo (or just about anything) along with our Whispering Pines logo. All company special orders will be given a 20% discount when using the club for your merchandize gifts.
Mizuno has come out with the biggest breakthrough in club fitting I have ever personally seen. The technology comes by swinging the fitting club, which has a computer chip attached. After three swings with this club I put six different numbers into my software, which then gives you the three best shaft options for your swing. Now here is the cool part! The fitting system has all the shafts and club head combinations. After your shaft is determined we can hit the exact shaft with multiple heads to determine what club you want.  This allows you to hit the exact club you would order. If you are thinking about new clubs this year you have to go through this fifteen minute fitting process!

From The Kitchen
Hello to all our new and returning members. A new Decade is here for Whispering Pines. We have made some minor changes in the menu to continuously offer something fresh and different to enhance your experience at the Pines. 
On that same note, we are looking into offering a Couple’s Weekend once a month with golf, dining, and a cooking class for the wives. Stay tuned as we work out the details and dates for these fun filled events.
I would like to remind you that if you have any favorite wines, liquors, or special menu item that I could get for you please let me know. As always, I am here to do my best to procure you requests.
